Microwave Caramel Corn

3 qts. popped popcorn
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup margarine
¼ cup white corn syrup (Karo)
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda

Place popped corn in a large paper bag, which has been sprayed with Pam. Set aside. Combine sugar, margarine, syrup and salt in a microwaveable bowl. Stir well. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, uncovered. Stir well. Microwave on high 2 more minutes. Stir in baking soda and mix well. Pour caramel mixture over popped corn in paper bag. Close bag. Microwave on high for 1 ½ minutes. Shake. Microwave on high for 1 ½ more minutes. Shake. Microwave on high 45 seconds. Pour on waxed paper to cool. Store in a tight container. (This was a treat I took to Purdue for my starving college kids during finals.)
